The Washington Post is reporting that Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels is now “open” to a run for president…

Two months ago, in an interview in his state capitol office, Daniels said explicitly he was not interested in running for president and dismissed speculation that he might be a candidate. That has now changed. During an interview at the winter meeting of the National Governors Association here over the weekend, Daniels said he has now been persuaded to keep open the door to a possible candidacy.

Daniels said he has had a number of conversations in recent months–”none initiated by me”–where the question of a 2012 campaign came up. “Just to get them off my back, I agreed to a number of people that I will now stay open to the idea,” he said. — Washington Post

The plot thickens…

  • Go man go!

We need Mitch on the GOP ticket. Good sense, good with cents, and proven ability to reach across the isle.

I don’t know who it will take to pursuade him, and I am not sure when the optimum time to announce it is…… but I hope someone gets through to Mitch that HE is what this country needs. If he can do only part of what he has done in this state on national scale, there may still be hope for us all.

  • Governor Daniels would be an excellent candidate for all the right reasons; he does not speak in a patronizing way; he is intelligent; he knows about financial matters at a time when we are desperately in need of that knowledge; he has not thrown President Bush under the bus and President Bush also was a man of principle; he cares about his country and his state and his family obviously; he can balance a budget and he does not crave the limelight. He has a wonderful dignity of bearing and thinks before he speaks. One of a kind.
